Opportunity.

A couple of years back, I was working retail and going to school full time, sounds like a lot but I was bored. I was a big fan of Vapors Magazine and thought it would be cool to work for them. I took a shot in the dark and sent an email to an address I found in the table of contents, surprisingly someone responded, it was the EIC. I told him I was based in Atlanta, but willing to do whatever. A day later he hit me back and said he wanted to do a story on DJ Drama, I ran through my connects and set it up, but there was only one thing he wanted ME to write it! I wasn’t a journalist, and my mom can attest to the fact that my writing is terrible, but I couldn’t pass on the opportunity. Kinda nervous and having no clue where to start I began to prep.

Not only did I write that article but I did another on DJ Greg Street and contributed a total of 4 stories to the issue. Not bad for someone who had never written anything outside of some college papers.

Exactly 3 years later, to the month, another opportunity presented itself I couldn’t pass on, Drama asked me to shoot a video for his ‘Oh My Remix’ which you see above. People often ask me, how did you get into filming music videos? Well that story is way too long, but in a nut-shell I took some opportunities and turned them into something, I’ve been blessed to be able to do what I have done and I never take that for granted.

I said all that to say this… So what if you have never done something before, so what if you are a little nervous, if you want to do something, put everything you have into it and let God do the rest.
